Unfortunately I didn't see much of the match as 20 minutes in Tristan suffered a serious leg injury (actually a clean break of both Tibia and Fibula) requiring an air ambulance ride to Wexham hospital and by the time that was sorted and Tristan was on his way the match (having moved pitches to allow for the helicopter landing) was almost over.
So first things first - we wish you a successful and speedy recovery Tristan, thank you to the ambulance and helicopter crews that attended and thank you to the Beaconsfield physio and Sara the Wycombe physio who both spent a long time with Tris and were calm and supportive in a very difficult situation.
So the game: 0-0 at half time and in the second half tries from Josh Avis (just to make sure he stays at the top of the 2s points leader board) and Anthony Farthing, with two successful conversions from Lee 'on target' Salmon (one of which he told me several times was from the touchline) brought up the 14 points for Wycombe. Beaconsfield came back near the end with a penalty try and almost unbelievably then choose to drop kick the conversion attempt (presumably as they were in a hurry to restart the game) and missed, and this miss ultimately handed the game to Wycombe. Right at the end of the game our 3 times retired number 9, Simon A, clearly feeling Beaconsfield deserved one more chance , opted to kick the ball straight to Beaconsfield's winger after the ref had announced last play, rather than kick the ball into touch, but Wycs defence held strong and the ball and player were bundled into touch.
Well played guys you deserved the win which sees us secure in 5th, above both local rivals Beaconsfield and Marlow, with one game still to play.
