High Wycombe RUFC is saddened to share the news of the passing of former player Matt Free, who died last month.
Matt was a tenacious hooker who represented the club at 1st XV and 2nd XV level throughout the late 1980s and 1990s. He was also a regular tourist to Arnhem and took part in the club tour to Florida, contributing to many shared moments and memories from those years. Those who played alongside him will remember his commitment on the pitch and his presence within the squad.
Matt’s funeral will take place earlier in September and will be private for family only. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday 20th September in Bishop’s Stortford, where friends, former teammates and members of the rugby community are welcome to come together to honour his life.
Details of the memorial can be found here: https://matthew-free.muchloved.com/
The club sends its heartfelt condolences to Matt’s family and all who knew him.
