Ampthill 10-34 Wycombe.

Anyone looking at this score and imagining Wycs had a breezy run out this afternoon would be mistaken.

Rather, it was a hard fought physical encounter, where in the first half we struggled to recycle our own ball successfully and our hosts made life very difficult for us at scrum time. However, as the game progressed some great running and support play, mostly out wide, led to a comfortable scoreline by the final whistle.I would like to mention Isla, Megan and Alex, all of whom were rugby virgins until this afternoon and all of whom stepped across the white line and did a great job despite obvious pre-match nerves.

The game was stopped 10 minutes early, as an Ampthill player sustained a painful injury to her hip in a tackle and it was decided best not to move her. We hope that the injury is not serious and send her our best wishes for a speedy recovery.

It was a tough game, hopefully good preparation for our first cup game at home next Sunday 11th KO 2pm some support for the girls would be amazing.

Update

The Ampthill injured player is confirmed ok, ligament damage.
