My name is Craig Murray and I have the privilege of being the Chairman of High Wycombe Rugby Club. I have been involved in rugby for 35 years, including 20 as a player at HWRUFC, before taking on a number of roles across the club and then becoming Chairman this summer.  

I am incredibly proud of this club’s history and its position as a community club. We pride ourselves on being a great place to play and watch rugby, whether you are new to the game or a seasoned player looking to stretch yourself at the higher levels. We have a thriving mini and youth section, an established, successful and growing women’s section and three competitive men’s teams. Our clubhouse has recently been developed and upgraded and is a great venue both for supporters to watch the action on the pitch and for club members and the community to gather for numerous events across the year. 

I have a clear ambition for the next five years, which is to continue to grow the club and to provide the opportunity for more people to participate in the fantastic game of rugby. Central to this is developing the players of the future, giving more children the opportunity to try rugby and to be part of a sport and a club where they can thrive. I want us to be active in our community - working with schools, community groups and other clubs/societies. 

I have an incredible team working with me, giving their time, energy and expertise to sustaining and growing our great club. However, to enable us to achieve our ambitions for the club we also need further financial investment to allow us to continue to develop our infrastructure, to invest in kit and equipment, and to allow us to subsidise the costs of rugby for our mini and junior members, so we can continue to make rugby accessible to everyone in our community. 

We would love to partner with companies like yours to showcase your brand whilst bringing much-needed investment to the club. I believe that the culture and ambition of our club is one that you would be proud to be aligned with. We are also a club of scale and impact, meaning great visibility for your company. Every weekend our teams play in fixtures and festivals across Buckinghamshire and beyond. We have a footfall of over 500 people every weekend, which grows significantly when we welcome other junior sections, host club lunches and functions, and when we come together as a club for events, live screenings and celebrations. 

Over the coming pages we share more with you about who we are and the opportunities we have to work together. From there we would love to speak with you and think about the ways we can work together for this season and beyond. Whatever your budget, we believe we can present an appealing and viable proposal.

About Us

High Wycombe Rugby Club was established as early as the 1890s and has been housed in our current clubhouse on the Mead since 1971. Whilst we are proud to say we have produced several international players, including a British & Irish Lion, what we are most proud of is the thousands of players who have come through our club doors to learn and play rugby over the years.

We are, at our very heart, a community rugby club and we believe that comes through in what we do and how we do it. We are proud of our High Wycombe heritage and what our club has to offer and aim to see the club continue to offer the benefits so many have already had, for many years to come. We believe that participation in rugby provides huge physical benefits, fosters confidence, teamwork and provides lifelong friendships.

Our Rugby Club offers team participation with various levels of play, from youth teams to adult leagues for both men and women, and we provide facilities for training, matches, social gatherings and more.

We are committed to continue to support our local community. The appointment of our first Head of Community Coaching provides us with the resources to continue to invest in local initiatives. In the last year we have been working with multiple schools across the Wycombe area to provide access to rugby.  We have also worked with Scouts, Beavers and partnered with organisations like Talk Therapies, Bucks County Council and Age UK to expand the reach of our community work.

HWRUFC in numbers

• 3 mens teams, 1 womens team and age group rugby for boys and girls from u6 to u18.
• In total we have 350 active players including over 200 in the minis and youth section
• Over 1,500 club social members who join us to watch our games and attend events, functions and social events at our club.
• Across the season we welcome players, officials and supporters from dozens of different clubs across Buckinghamshire and beyond.
• 2,800+ followers across social media
• In the past 12 months we have run sessions in many schools in the area, with a target to increase this coming year
• Nearly 1,500 participants have taken part in our community sessions with our Community Officer (e.g. Beavers)
• 25% of ALL Community focused delivery has been to members of the BAME communit

How to Invest In Us

Rugby famously describes itself as a game for all shapes and sizes and our approach to sponsorship is similar.

We would like to work with you to find the sponsorship package that works for your needs and budget, and where you would most like your brand to be aligned.

Some sponsors may choose to be club wide, others may decide to align to a specific population, for example the minis section.

We appreciate some sponsors may choose to be aligned to a specific event for example the youth tour, whilst others want to support a specific project, for example the club house upgrades.

We also know some sponsors may wish to commit to a number of years, whereas others may wish to align to the club for just one year.

We will work with you to find the right outcome for you!

Sponsorship can of course vary in amounts, be that £500 or £20,000. Your contribution would make a difference to the success of our club in your community.
